For the past five years, The Ghana-UK Based Achievement (GUBA) Awards has awarded several individuals who have excelled within the British Ghanaian community whilst also seeking to promote greater cultural diversity in the UK. The awards have been presented to musicians, actors, social entrepreneurs and more during its inception in October 2010.
The GUBA Awards 2015 was launched this week at the British High Commissioners residence in Accra and the event hosted several celebrities and personalities.
An unexpected rainfall moved the launch from the lawn to the porch which brought people closer for more interaction and closer engagement.
The MC for the event was held handsomely by Kwame Sefa Kayi who really looked like he was having some political ambitions up his sleeves. Just check out his grin and handshake moves. *wink wink*.
HE Jon Benjamin, British High Commissioner to Ghana addressed the guests and shared insights of the great work being done by the GUBA team. A new project by the GUBA FOUNDATION was also mentioned by the Commissioner.

The project involves helping the JamesTown suburb in Accra to reduce its cholera statistics as well as aid the community in more educational & health projects.
The sponsors of the event had the opportunity to talk about why they chose to sponsor the awards as well as advertise their products. Thumbs up to Ulti-Malt! That was great marketing though unexpected!
George Ameyaw, Head of GUBA PR, finally announced the nominees for the GUBA 2015 awards which included Rev. Joyce Aryee, Bola Ray and a host of other Ghanaians.

Founder of GUBA, Dentaa stressed on the importance of recognising the hard work of Ghanaians abroad and providing support for their work. Her vivacity and strength resonated across the porch as she reminded the guests of the vision of GUBA.
