Did you ever exchange stickers in school? Just so you could stick them at the back of the jotter and feel like the coolest kid on the block? Well I did but like everyone else I grew out of them for like forever until about a year ago, thanks to Viber! So whats up (no pun intended) with all the instant messaging apps going gaga over stickers? Emoji-drained? Or feeding of lazy typists hunger for quick messages. After going through my iphone IM apps here are four of them with either the best or ‘stickiest’ stickers.
Viber has the best stickers evvverrrr!! Any challenger? Whoever is behind the designing of these incredible stickers which always seem perfect for sending the right emotion must be handed Best Stickers Designer Award (one to be created if none exists)! Its just so weird how its easy to relate to every sticker which says perfectly the message you want to convey. There’s a sticker for everything. And I mean everything! Want to send a fart? Theres a sticker for that. Want to show memes? They got it. What about leg cats? Its there! The stickers are memorable and make any chat fun with shimmers of humor in some.
Chatting with your girlfriends, never seemed so chic! With many of these stickers free on desktop versions and not on iPhone , i think i sometimes feel bummed out not being able to send these on the quick. Do i really have to buy stickers? Wouldn’t exchanging stickers with friends be more cool?
Telegram keeps popping up with new features and was I surprised to see their experimental stickers? Yes I was but Pop themed stickers? No siree! Abraham Lincoln giving the thumbs up was an unexpected as Steve Jobs holding an iphone with a mischievous smile. To get one of the new stickers is to find the right emoticon and the sticker would pop-up above it and you can just click it to send
I can’t quite figure out some of the faces but their expressions are just rib-cracking!
Currently available on Windows desktop and on iPhone, the stickers are catchy but takes some getting used to as you have to experiment which of the emoji’s applies to which sticker for the iPhone. Where is the Mac version? Look out for Marilyn Monroe’s kiss using the ‘blowing kiss’ emoticon.
Animated stickers are winners in relaying emotions especially when they have a comic feel to them. Remember Yahoo Messenger emoticons? I thought they were awesome too. Facebook’s messenger has a sticker market with an array of animal and cartoon character stickies with my favourite being the fox. The messaging app has animated smileys which can often lighten anyone’s mood during a chat.
Guess who just released stickers on its messaging app. Google Hangouts of course. What do I think of them? Meh. o_O .
Aside being uploaded as a photo on clicking them, these stickers take up my ‘small’ data and aren’t that catchy to make a chat memorable. A lot more needs to be done on these stickers hence the placement of Hangout stickers at the bottom of this list.
However, it would serve the app developers behind these apps to add more diversity to the stickers. Where are the Africans or Asians? That aspect is seriously lacking in the sticker realm of chat apps. Come on guys!! #WordToTheWise !
